BOSTON – Concluding a two-game road trip, the Boston University men's soccer team will travel to Saint Joseph's for a Thursday night tilt at 7 p.m.
The Terriers started off the season with a split against the America East, first upending UAlbany with a 2-1 victory and then dropping a 2-1 decision at then-No. 23 New Hampshire. The Hawks will look to bounce back in the final contest of a three-game homestand following 2-0 losses to Drexel and Rider.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- Graduate student Quinn Matulis has scored two of the Terriers' three goals so far this season with both coming off successful free kicks. Named both Patriot League Offensive Player and Midfielder of the Week on Monday, he led BU last season with 12 points off four goals and four assists.
- Senior Aidan Bone scored the game winning goal against the Great Danes last Thursday by pouncing on a back pass and finding the back of the net in the 89th minute.
- Named to the Preseason All-PL squad, graduate student midfielder Colin Innes, senior goalkeeper Francesco Montali and senior back Griffin Roach are the three Terriers to have played all 180 minutes so far.
- Named 2022 PL Goalkeeper of the Year, Montali has totaled eight saves so far for a .727 save percentage and 1.50 goals against average.
- Through two games, opponents have earned a 29-19 advantage in shot attempts and 11-6 lead in corner kicks.
- BU went 2-4-2 last season on the road compared to the 4-1-5 home mark.
SCOUTING SAINT JOSEPH'S
- The Hawks are selected to finish eighth in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll after posting a 3-6-8 record last season. SJU went 3-3-1 at home compared to the 0-3-7 road mark.
- Blake Driehuis and Kenyatta Collins are the top returning goal scorers with two goals apiece.
- Driehuis owns a team-high six shots with Patrick Vani tallying four so far.
- After starting three games last season, Lars Haavie has totaled nine saves for a .692 save percentage along with a 2.00 goals against average.
- Opponents are averaging three more shot attempts per game (12-9) with a 10-7 advantage in corner kicks.
SERIES HISTORY
- BU and SJU are meeting for the second time ever after the teams battled to a 1-1 draw last season at Nickerson Field.
- Junior Neal Carlson struck first at 42:55, and the Hawks netted the equalizer at 59:53.
- SJU posted a 13-8 advantage in shots with a 5-2 lead in corners.

- BU will return home Sunday (Sept. 3) to host UMass Lowell as part of the 16th annual Terrier Tailgate.
