Men's Soccer Remains Unbeaten at Nickerson Field with 0-0 Draw against Colgate

BOSTON – The Boston University men's soccer team dominated possession for most of the 90 minutes of action but only came away with one Patriot League point in a 0-0 draw against Colgate Saturday afternoon at Nickerson Field.

Finishing with a 16-4 advantage in shot attempts, the Terriers (6-2-2, 3-0-1 PL) extended their home unbeaten streak to nine contests, as the Raiders (3-6-1, 0-0-1 PL) utilized three saves in the rivalry's first scoreless battle since 1984.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Raiders earned a pair of corner kicks in the fourth minute and added their final corner at 9:14, leading to a blocked shot attempt.
  • Senior Eitan Rosen ripped a shot from 15 yards out that forced a diving save from Oliver Townend in the 13th minute, and classmate Andrew Rent went wide a minute later.
  • BU got a break in the 16th minute, as Alejandro Coury intercepted a pass from 30 yards out and lifted a shot over senior Francesco Montali that nailed the crossbar.
  • The Raiders earned a free kick outside the box at 22:10, and Coury fired a low shot through the BU wall that Montali was perfectly positioned to smother.
  • Rosen and graduate student Colin Innes both went wide for the final two shot attempts of the half.
  • BU had an excellent opportunity to break the stalemate in the 52nd minute, but Townend stopped both shots from Rent and Rosen during a frantic scramble for the ball.
  • Two minutes later, freshman Luke Dunne headed a BU corner over the crossbar.
  • Innes later nailed the crossbar himself at 70:36, and sophomore Alex Bonnington headed a ball high 90 seconds later.
  • Posting a 12-1 advantage in shots during the final 45 minutes of action, the Terriers made the Raiders dig in and defend over the final five minutes, securing a pair of corners and two shots.

  • Rosten posted a career-high six shots to increase his total to 18 attempts this fall, tying his personal best set back in 2021.
  • Innes tallied four shots, while Rent posted two.
  • Montali had one save, as Oliver Townend tallied three.
  • BU earned four of its five corners in the second half, after Colgate recorded all three during the first 45 minutes of action.
