Women’s Soccer Treks to Lafayette for Saturday Tilt

BOSTON – Placing its four-game Patriot League unbeaten streak on the line, the Boston University women's soccer program heads to Lafayette on Saturday (Oct. 12). Opening kick is set for 1 p.m.
 
BU (2-7-4, 2-0-2 PL) is the only remaining Patriot League team that has not lost a conference match. With five contests left in the regular season, the Terriers sit in third place in the table with eight points.
 
Lafayette (5-4-1, 2-1-1 PL) is one of three teams with seven points, joining Holy Cross and Navy. The Leopards are undefeated at home this year at 3-0-1.
 
TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU and Navy battled to a 1-1 draw on Saturday (Oct. 5) at Nickerson Field.
  • Freshman Jaiden Schultz potted her first-career goal in the 33rd minute, finishing classmate Juliana Osterman's cross.
  • In scoring the goal, Schultz was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week for the week of Oct. 7.
  • During the last six games, BU's offense is averaging 2.2 goals per game. Prior to that, the Terriers scored five times in its first seven matches.
  • The Terriers pace the Patriot League with 2.75 goals per game and a +1.50 scoring margin in conference play.
  • Thirteen different Terriers have recorded at least one point this year.
  • Junior Margy Porta is tied for first in the league against conference foes with four goals and tied for second with eight points.
  • Saturday starts a two-game road swing, the final stretch this regular season with consecutive games outside of Boston. 
SCOUTING LAFAYETTE
  • The Leopards are 5-4-1 on the season and 2-1-1 in Patriot League play, most recently defeating American on the road, 3-0, on Oct. 5.
  • Lafayette's scoring margin against conference opponents is 5-1 in four games.
  • Katrina Santelli paces the Leopards with three goals and seven points. Catherine Apker has played the majority of minutes in goal to the tune of an .850 save percentage and 0.95 goals-against average.
  • Lafayette was projected to finish eighth in the Patriot League preseason poll, behind Colgate and ahead of American.
  • Last season, the Leopards went 7-8-1, going 3-6 in conference action. 
SERIES HISTORY
  • Saturday marks the 13th all-time meeting between BU and Lafayette in a series that began when the Terriers entered the Patriot League in 2013.
  • The Terriers sport a 10-1-1 edge in the rivalry, and are on a four-match unbeaten streak.
  • BU's scoring margin in the series is 31-8.
  • In Easton, Pa., the Terriers are 4-1-1, with Lafayette's lone win coming in 2019.
  • Last year, BU captured a 4-2 home win over Lafayette on Oct. 7, 2023. Six different Terriers recorded points, including goals from Giulianna Gianino, Natalie Godoy, and Mackenzie Stickelman

  • The Terriers return to the Bay State for a Turnpike Trophy tilt at Holy Cross on Wednesday (Oct. 16). Opening kick is slated for 7 p.m.
