BOSTON – Opening a three-game homestand, the defending Patriot League champion Boston University men's soccer team will host Lafayette in a rematch of last year's conference title game on Saturday at 4 p.m.
The contest is part of a Soc'toberFest doubleheader with the Terrier women first meeting Navy with a 1 p.m. start time. Fans will be able to enjoy food trucks, a 21-plus beer garden, games and giveaways.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- Thanks to a 3-2 victory against Army West Point on Sept. 14, the Terriers are riding a 18-game unbeaten streak (13-0-5) against PL opponents at Nickerson Field. The last loss came against Lafayette back during the shortened 2020 season held in Spring 2021 due to CoVID.
- BU is 1-1-3 at home this fall after most recently earning a 1-1 draw against Boston College back on Sept. 24.
- In non-conference action, both BU and Lafayette earned 1-1 draws at UMass Lowell.
- Sophomore Andrea Di Blasio and junior Damola Salami are tied for the team lead in goals (2) and points (5).
- With a long pass, junior Quin DeLaMater helped sophomore Keke Abai become the 10th Terrier to score a goal this season at Lehigh last Saturday. DeLaMater also moved into a tie with seniors Daniel Kim and Andrew Rent for the team lead in assists at two apiece.
- Graduate student Andrew Wike, junior Ben Alexander and junior Sheraz Saadat have all started at least two games apiece at net, combining for a .679 save percentage and 1.80 goals against average.
- Opponents are averaging 3.3 more shots per game (10.9-7.6) with a 56-28 lead in corner kicks.
SCOUTING LAFAYETTE
- The Leopards are 2-2-2 on the road this season after earning a 2-1 victory at Army last Saturday.
- Lafayette started conference play with a 2-1 loss at Colgate and 2-1 loss vs. Navy.
- Roy Biegon leads the Leopards with four goals and 10 points, while Beaux Lizewski has a team-high four assists.
- Griffin Huff has started seven games at net, posting a .742 save percentage and 1.14 goals against average.
- Lafayette is averaging 0.4 more shots per game (10.7-10.3) with a 56-42 lead in corner kicks.
SERIES HISTORY
- BU and Lafayette are tied, 5-5-2, after the Terriers snapped last fall a six-game winless streak (0-4-2) with a 1-0 victory in the PL title game.
- Despite the Leopards earning 10 of the 14 corner kicks, the Terriers posted a 12-6 advantage in shots with graduate student Aidan Bone and senior Andrew Rent assisting on a 65th-minute goal by Eitan Rosen ('24).
- In the last regular season matchup, the Leopards posted a 2-0 win in Pennsylvania.
- Two years ago at Nickerson Field, the teams battled to a scoreless draw.
LOOKING AHEAD
- The Terriers will remain home and next host the final non-conference opponent of the regular season in Ivy League rival, Harvard, on Tuesday (Oct. 8) at 7 p.m.
- BU and the Crimson battled to a 1-1 draw last season in Allston.
- Harvard won the last meeting at Nickerson Field, 1-0, in 2022.
