Field Hockey to Open Patriot League Play on Friday at Bucknell

The Boston University field hockey team will open its Patriot League schedule on Friday (Sept. 20) with a visit to Bucknell. The Terriers have been victorious in each of their past four visits to Lewisburg.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • The Terriers are now 3-3 on the year after topping Maine, 2-1, at home on Sunday.
  • Senior Payton Anderson recorded three goals last weekend including the late-game winner against the Black Bears.
  • Anderson has team highs in both points (8) and goals (4) this season and she now has 28 career goals, which ties her for ninth all-time at BU.
  • Senior Tegan Poerio had a goal and two assists over two games last weekend and is tied with junior Megan Wetzel for the team lead in assists with three.
  • The Terriers have scored on nine of their 32 corners this season. 
  • Graduate student Kate Thomason has started the past four contests in goal for BU and sports a 2.74 goals-against average and a .705 save percentage.
  • BU is in its 47th season at the varsity level.
SCOUTING BUCKNELL
  • The Bison are coming off a 2-1 road win over Columbia on Sunday to rebound from a 4-2 loss at Wagner on Friday.  
  • Senior Lily Neilson, a two-time Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, has a team-best five points on two goals and an assist.
  • Freshman Sally Hunter also has two goals while classmate Reese Czajkowski has a goal and an assist.
  • Junior Kira Leclercq, who joined Neilson on the Preseason All-Patriot League Team, leads the nation with seven defensive saves.
  • Sophomore Sarah Althouse has started all six games in goal for the Bison and has a 1.62 goals-against average along with a .780 save percentage.

SERIES HISTORY VS. THE BISON

  • Friday will mark the 14th meeting all-time between the two sides.
  • BU is 9-4 all-time against the Bison.
  • The past 12 meetings have all been decided by one goal.
  • The Terriers earned a 2-1 double-overtime home win over the Bison last season on a goal from Thalia Steenssens
