Women’s Soccer Announces 2025 Captains

May 2, 2025

BOSTON – The reigning Patriot League champion Boston University women's soccer program has finalized its captains ahead of the 2025 campaign, head coach Megan Burke formally announced on Friday.

The leadership group consists of four rising seniors: Giulianna Gianino, Natalie Godoy, Margy Porta and Mackenzie Stickelman. All four Terriers are first-time captains; Gianino and Porta served on the team's leadership council back in 2024.

"Giulianna, Nat, Margy and Mackenzie have earned the respect of their teammates and our staff through their consistency, work ethic, and character throughout their time at BU," said Burke. "They each bring a unique leadership style, but ultimately share a deep commitment to our team values and culture. This group has consistently led by example, and we're excited to see the impact they'll have on and off the field this upcoming season."

Gianino, the team's leading scorer from 2024 with 21 points, was an All-Patriot League First Team and All-Academic honoree after finishing the year with eight goals and five assists. The Norwell, Mass. native enters her final campaign ranking 12th in program history with both 18 goals and 46 points.

Godoy was an All-Patriot League Second Team recipient in 2023 as a sophomore after registering six goals and three assists, tying for seventh in the Patriot League in points per game. She was a 2024 Preseason All-Patriot League pick before she sustained a season-ending injury in the season opener.

Porta broke out with a career best eight goals and 17 points in 2024 en route to an All-Patriot League First Team honor. She slotted fifth in the Patriot League leaderboards with 1.22 points per conference match while supplying two game-winning goals, including the double-overtime strike in the Patriot League semifinals vs. Army West Point.

Stickelman is a two-time All-Patriot League selection that has recorded four goals and two assists in her collegiate career. Also receiving Patriot League All-Tournament Team honors in 2024, she played 80 or more minutes in nine of her final 12 appearances and nearly 1,400 minutes on the year.

BU captured its fifth Patriot League title last year after outlasting Bucknell in penalty kicks, 8-7, following a 1-1 contest in the championship game. The Terriers went unbeaten in Patriot League play during the regular season to secure their 14th conference championship and 15th NCAA Tournament appearance.
