BOSTON – The Boston University men's rowing program is set to participate in the 122nd running of the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Championship Regatta from Friday, May 30 to Sunday, June 1 on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J.
BU has four entries in the event with three eights and one four. Racing begins for the Terriers at 8:40 a.m. on Friday. All three days will stream live on Overnght.com with live results posted on Regatta Timing. - 8:40 a.m. – Varsity 8+ (Heat 4)
- Vs. Navy, Wisconsin, Dartmouth, Princeton, Holy Cross)
- 9:28 a.m. – Second Varsity 8+ (Heat 4)
- Vs. Oregon State, Princeton, Dartmouth, Wisconsin, Holy Cross)
- 9:44 a.m. – Third Varsity 8+ (Heat 2)
- Vs. La Salle, Harvard, Penn, Oregon State)
- 11:30 a.m. – Varsity 4+ Time Trials
- 3:30 p.m. – 4:18 p.m. – Varsity 4+ Semifinals
- ABC Semifinal starting at 3:30 p.m.
- DE Semifinal starting at 3:54 p.m.
- FG Semifinal starting at 4:10 p.m.
POLL POSITION
- The Terrier Varsity 8+ remained 13th, ahead of Cornell and Georgetown while trailing Syracuse and Wisconsin, in the final IRCA/IRA polls.
- BU's Second Varsity 8+ is 12th, ahead of Wisconsin, Cornell and Temple.
- The Third Varsity 8+ has the highest ranking at 10th, above Brown, Cornell and Wisconsin.
- In the Week 6 iteration of the poll, BU was slotted 11th in the Ten Eyck Team Points table with 157 points, ahead of Stanford, Wisconsin and Cornell and right behind Brown and Northeastern.
LAST TIME OUT
- BU launched four crews at the Eastern Sprints back on Sunday, May 18.
- All four boats advanced to the Petite Finals, with the Fourth Varsity 8+ finishing second in that round and eighth overall.
- The Second and Third Varsity 8+ crews were ninth, while the Varsity 8+ was 10th.
LAST TIME AT THE IRA CHAMPIONSHIP
- BU has placed 10th overall in the last three IRA Championships, finishing higher than their team seeding each year.
- All three of the Terriers' eights advanced to the Petite Finals and finished top 10 overall. The Varsity 8+ and Second Varsity 8+ were 10th, while the Third Varsity 8+ was third in the Petite Final to slot ninth in the country.
- BU's Varsity 4+ was 15th overall.
LOOKING AHEAD
- BU's performances on Friday will lead to seeding in the semifinals for the eights on Saturday, May 31. The first race will begin at 8:32 a.m. as part of the Varsity 8+ AB Semifinal.
- The Varsity 4+ Final begins at 10 a.m. with the top two final rounds respectively scheduled for 11 and 11:20 a.m.
