Seventeen Terriers Named CRCA Scholar-Athletes

June 17, 2025

WILMINGTON, Del. – The Boston University rowing programs had 17 combined student-athletes receive Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Scholar-Athlete Awards following the 2025 spring season, the organization announced on Tuesday afternoon.

The Patriot League champion women's rowing team placed 13 Terriers on the list, while four from the IRA bronze medalist lightweighting rowing program garnered recognition.

The CRCA Scholar-Athlete Award recognizes collegiate rowers who demonstrate a strong commitment to success in the classroom and on the water. Nominees must meet the following criteria:
  • Must meet all institutional and conference eligibility rules
  • Must be in their second, third, fourth, or fifth year of eligibility
  • Must hold a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher through the end of the fall semester/winter quarter
  • Must have rowed in at least 75% of the team's spring races in an NCAA or IRA (lightweight) eligible boat or must have competed in an NCAA boat at their conference championship
For women's rowing, Ingrid Eshuis, Audrey Lucerne, Lydia Pelton and Kat Robbins were selected from the Patriot League champion Varsity 8+ crew. Aryn Bailey, Hannah Look, Nina Palmer and Tatum Swanwick represented the Second Varsity 8+. The Varsity 4+ was highlighted with Elisabeth Arnason, Kennedy Walker and Viktoria Zruttová. Julia Andrist and Sonya Carson from the Second Varsity 4+ were recipients as well.

The Terriers secured their second consecutive Patriot League title and fourth as a league member back on May 16. BU won both the Varsity 8+ and Second Varsity 4+ Grand Finals to help the team earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Championship. There, the Terriers finished 20th overall as a team, highlighted with the Varsity 4+ reaching the C Final and finishing 18th in the nation.

On the lightweight rowing side, Heather Shinn represented the Lightweight 4+. Hannah Clark, Savanna Jacovini and Lulu Smith competed in the Lightweight 8+ and picked up scholar-athlete recognition.

BU earned the team bronze medal for the second consecutive year at the IRA National Championship Regatta. The Terriers won the gold medal in the Lightweight Double for the second year in a row as well. Smith and classmate Zoey Goodness were chosen as CRCA All-Americans earlier in the month.
