TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU sustained its first road defeat back on Aug. 31 with a 4-0 loss to the Gaels.
- That marked the Terriers' first shutout in the previous 13 matches.
- Sunday's contest is the third of four America East foes BU faces in 2025. The Terriers are 2-0 so far with wins over UNH and Maine.
- BU ranks second in the Patriot League with 1.8 goals per game and third with just eight goals allowed.
- Seniors Giulianna Gianino and Mackenzie Stickelman as well as freshman Georgia Prouty rank in the top 15 across the league in shots per game.
- Gianino remains atop the league leaderboard with 1.8 points per game, three assists and 2.4 shots on goal per game.
- A win would guarantee the Terriers finish .500 or better in non-conference play, which would mark the second occurrence in the previous three seasons.
- The River Hawks' match earlier this week against CCSU was canceled. Prior to that, UMass Lowell played UMass to a 0-0 draw.
- UMass Lowell's lone win came in its 2025 opener at Stony Brook, 4-2. The River Hawks have scored just one goal since.
- Maddie Guthrie leads UMass Lowell with three points off three assists, while goalkeeper Rachel Welch sports a .758 save percentage.
- The River Hawks were projected for a fourth-place finish in the America East preseason poll after reaching the conference semifinals in 2024.
- Sunday marks the fifth all-time meeting between BU and UMass Lowell in a series that began in 1995.
- The Terriers sport a 2-1-1 edge in the rivalry, including a 2-1 victory in Lowell back on Aug. 25, 2022.
- However, the River Hawks won the last matchup, 1-0, last August with Gaby Eckroth's 72nd-minute goal off a corner kick at Nickerson Field.
- Gianino scored in the 2022 contest against UMass Lowell, while current assistant coach Amy Thompson had an assist on the game-deciding strike.
- BU's five-game road swing ends at Harvard on Thursday (Sept. 11). Opening kick is set for 7 p.m.
