Terriers Top Friars

March 27, 2000

The Boston University women's tennis team posted its sixth-straight win and completed a near-perfect month of March with a convincing 6-1 win at Providence College on March 25. The Terriers finished 6-1 for the month, the sole loss coming against Florida International on March 6. It was the first loss of the spring for the Friars, who fell to 4-1 and 13-2 overall. B.U. improves to 9-4 on the season.

B.U. got strong performances from sophomore Christina Causway (Wilson, NC), junior Carrie Rose (Bloomfield Hills, MI) and freshman Alana Marcu (Leonia, NJ). Causway defeated Alison Carson, 6-2, 6-1 at second singles, while Rose defeated Gina Vlasek, 6-2, 6-0 at fourth singles and Marcu stopped Courtney Malloy, 6-0, 6-0 at sixth singles. The Terriers have won eight of their past nine.

B.U. will play it's final home date on Saturday, April 1 against Dartmouth at 12 p.m. A win would equal a seven-game winning streak set last season when the Terriers went unbeaten from April 18 through May 1st en route to a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
