2004-05 Season Schedule
The 2004-05 season will be an historic one for the Terrier hockey team as it will play its final home game at Walter Brown Arena and its first game at the new 6300-seat Agganis Arena in an early January series against the University of Minnesota.
On January 2nd, the Terriers will host the Gophers at Brown Arena in the final home game in the facility that has served as Boston University's home since the 1971-72 season.
The following night, the same two teams will move two blocks to the East and play the first game at Agganis Arena, which is a state-of-the-art, multipurpose sports and entertainment center. The Arena is located within Boston University's new $225 million John Hancock Student Village-a 10-acre hub of activity designed to be the thriving center of student life and athletics.
Since November 27, 1971 when the Terriers opened Brown Arena with a 6-3 win over Yale, the Terriers have enjoyed unparalleled success at home. Including playoff games, they have compiled a 345-123-35 record for a .721 winning percentage.
Five times over the years, Terrier teams went undefeated at home. The most recent was during the 1999-2000 season when they were 14-0-3. Previously, they were 11-0-0 each in 1974-75 and 1975-76, 10-0-0 in 1977-78, and 14-0-2 in 1978-79.
The Terriers will play nine games at Brown Arena beginning with an October 16th matchup against Vermont. The other teams scheduled to visit Brown Arena are Providence on October 22nd, Maine on October 31st, Merrimack on November 12th, UMass/Lowell on November 20th, Harvard on November 23rd, Boston College on December 3rd, and Nebraska-Omaha on December 29th.
The Terriers will open their 2004-05 season on October 8th when they travel to Ohio to meet host Miami University in the Third Annual Lefty McFadden Invitational. Faceoff is scheduled for 7:35 p.m. at the Ervin J. Nutter Center in Dayton, OH. In the other first-round matchup, Northeastern will play the University of Michigan. Then, on October 9th, the Terriers and Wolverines will play with the game time still to be determined.
