Men's Soccer Falls in Overtime to Binghamton, 2-1

VESTAL, N.Y. - The Boston University men's soccer team dropped its conference opener to Binghamton, 2-1, in overtime on Saturday night in Vestal, N.Y. The Bearcats scored two unanswered goals to earn the come-from-behind victory. Sophomore Shaun Taylor tallied BU's lone goal and classmate Hrafn Davidsson made seven saves in net. BU falls to 5-5-0 overall and 0-1-0 in America East action, while Binghamton improves to 8-2-0 overall and 1-0-0 in the conference.

After Binghamton came out of the games with two header shots that were on target, BU struck on its first shot on goal as Taylor (Sandown, England) nailed home his second goal of the season at 16:24 off a pass on the left side from Aaron O'Neal (Virginia Beach, Va.).

Binghamton continued to press with three more strikes. The third shot on frame evened the score at one as Cameron Keith took a pass in the box and beat Davidsson (Reykjavik, Iceland) at 33:30.

In the first 90 minutes, Davidsson was forced to make six saves in net, including a save in the waning seconds of regulation to maintain the draw and send it into overtime.

In the first overtime period BU upped its offensive pressure with fours shots and one on goal, however, the Bearcats scored the game-winning goal with less than a minute remaining in the stanza on a loose ball in the box that Keith knocked in for his second goal of the match.

BU will return to the field on Wednesday, Oct. 10 when it hosts Maine at Nickerson Field at 7:00 p.m.
