BOSTON -
The Boston University women's tennis team started the 2008 spring season on a high note, sweeping Columbia 7-0 on Saturday morning in the Track and Tennis Center.
The Terriers came out strongly for the opening doubles match and pulled out a sweep in the doubles point. The momentum carried into the singles matches. Cori Lefkowith (Clayton, Mo.) had a tough first set against Steph Zilberman, down one game until she broke her opponent at 5-5 and went on to win the match.
Boston University dropped just six games in the doubles matches and did not lose a set in the singles contests.
BU returns to action on Sunday when the Terriers face UMBC at 10 a.m. in the Track and Tennis Center.
