STORRS, Conn. - Unable to put anything past senior goaltender Brittany Wilson, the ninth-ranked Boston University women's ice hockey team was dealt a 3-0 loss by Connecticut on Saturday afternoon at the Mark Freitas Ice Forum. The Terriers were shut out for the second straight game, falling to 9-7-5 overall and 6-4-0 in Hockey East play.

Wilson stopped all 31 shots she faced to earn her third shutout of the season and improve her league-best record to 10-3-1 as the Huskies moved to 14-6-2 overall and 7-4-0 in the conference with their eighth straight win. Junior Dominique Thibault put Connecticut on the board with a power-play goal in the second period and freshman Monique Weber added a pair of insurance goals, including an empty-netter in the closing minutes.

BU has now been shut out in three straight Hockey East games and continued to struggle on the power play, going 0-for-3 in the game. The Terriers have come up empty on their last 19 power-play opportunities.

The Huskies got on the board at the 6:27 mark in the second period, capitalizing on their second power-play opportunity of the afternoon when junior Cristin Allen and freshman Sami Evelyn set up Thibault for her team-leading 19th goal of the season.

Connecticut doubled its lead later in the period. With both teams skating four-on-four, sophomores Jennifer Chaisson and Jody Sydor fed Weber, who knocked in her fifth of the season at 10:26.

The 2-0 lead held until the closing minutes, when Weber put in an empty-netter for her second of the game at 17:24, set up once again by Chaisson and Sydor.

The Terriers held a 31-19 advantage in shots on goal in the game, with an especially pronounced edge in the first (10-4) and third (10-5) periods. Junior Melissa Haber made 16 saves in defeat for BU.

The Terriers return to action on Saturday, Jan. 17, continuing a four-game road swing with the first of a pair of Hockey East games at Maine with the puck set to drop at 7 p.m. in Orono.
