VESTAL, N.Y. - Aaron O'Neal tallied his ninth goal of the season to offset an early goal by Binghamton, but the Bearcats came back in the second half at home with a score to defeat the Boston University men's soccer team, 2-1, on Friday night. With the loss, the Terriers fall to 7-5-2 (1-3 AE), while Binghamton improves to 7-5-1 and 2-1 in conference play.

The Terriers outshot Binghamton, 18-6, but had two lapses on the defensive end that the Bearcats took advantage of to pull out the victory. In the sixth minute, a Boston defender tried to head the ball back to keeper Hrafn Davidsson while being pressured by America East player of the game Jake Keegan but was unable to put enough force on it. Keegan got the ball before it could be cleared and was able to knock it in at 5:45.

The Terriers quickly responded though at 9:54 when their AE player of the game O'Neal received a pass from Bustamante, dribbled into the box, and fired into the lower right corner for the equalizer. He now has 21 points on the year, while Bustamante has 10 after posting his eighth assist of the year.

The two teams entered the locker room tied at 1-1 with the Terriers having an 8-3 edge in shots. Jason Stenta recorded five saves to keep the game even, while the Bearcats only had that one shot on goal.

In the second half, the teams pushed the ball up and down without one gaining the upper hand until the 63rd minute when a Boston defender over played a ball, allowing the Bearcats to push the ball quickly into the box with the advantage in numbers. Ryan Walter received a cross from Jake Keegan and kicked it toward the middle of the goal from the near side from only a few yards out past a diving Davidsson for the score. Scott Zobre assisted on the play as well.

Down a goal, the Terriers went on the attack and had multiple opportunities but could not convert to remain winless at Binghamton with a 0-3-2 record, while still leading the all-time series, 5-4-4. Ben Berube's attempt at 73:17 was stopped by Stenta, and Ade Akinsanya was just wide at 80:29. Bustamante's shot hit the post with five minutes remaining, and O'Neal had one final good look for the Terriers at 87:55, but he went wide.

They finished ahead in shot attempts, 18-6, and also had a 4-1 edge against Binghamton in corners. Stenta recorded seven saves, while Davidsson had one.

The Terriers return home for Senior Night on Wednesday against UMBC with the start time set for 7 p.m.
