BOSTON - Both junior Elizabeth Corrao and freshman Petra Santini won their respective single matches after teaming up for a doubles victory to lead the Boston University women's tennis team to a 6-1 win over Army on Sunday afternoon at the Track and Tennis Center. Following the home opener, the Terriers improve to 2-1, while the Black Knights drop to 0-2.

BU began the match by winning two of the three doubles matches and followed by earning five of the six available points in singles action.

Senior Yana Saovskaya did not lose a single game in the No. 5 match to defeat Jessica Ahn, 6-0, 6-0. Classmate Danielle Abraham earned a quick 6-3, 6-2 victory over Robie Verano at No. 6, and Francine Whu posted a 6-1, 6-1 win against Kristin Beehler in the No. 3 contest.

Army and BU split the two three-set matches, with Corrao beating Michael Tollerton, 6-0, 6-7, 7-5, at No. 4, while Anne Houghton earned a 6-7, 7-6, 6-3 win over Stefanie Nunic for the Black Knight's lone point in the No. 1 contest.

Both Corrao and Santini, who defeated Niki Flach, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2, are undefeated on the season with a 3-0 singles record.

In doubles action, the two women teamed up in the No. 3 match to defeat Verano/Jurelle Mendoza, 8-4. Whu/Nunic clinched the doubles point at No. 1 with a hard-fought 9-7 victory over Houghton/Beehler. At No. 3, Army's Flach/Tollerton defeated Abraham / Cori Lefkowith, 8-7.

The Terriers return to the courts at home on Saturday (Feb. 7) against Dartmouth with the action set to start at 1 p.m.
