BOSTON - For the fourth straight game, junior Ben Berube scored the game-winning goal in the 33rd minute to lead the Boston University men's soccer team past Hartford, 2-0, at Nickerson Field on Saturday afternoon. Senior Ben Havey added the insurance score minutes later and redshirt-freshman Brandon Briggs recorded four saves to help the Terriers improve to 7-3-1 and 2-0-0 in league play.

Named BU's America East Player of the Game, Berube found the net at 32:23 when he found himself 1-on-1 with goalie Luke Citriniti after freshman Derek McCaffrey played a long ball outside the Terriers' box toward the Hawks' side of the field. Berube dribbled up into the box and fed the ball past the keeper for his fifth score of the season.

Four minutes later at 36:27, sophomore Ade Akinsanya played the ball into UH's box to Ryan Shea, who almost scored but hit the right post. Havey found the rebound and sent it past a defenseless Citriniti for the 2-0 lead.

UH (3-6-0, 1-1-0 AE) almost cut the lead in half at 39:47 when the Hawks' AE Player of the Game Patrick Boucher rifled a kick toward the left post. Briggs deflected it while moving up, and junior defender Colin Henry cleared the ball away while standing behind the goalie for the team save.

At the half, UH had an 8-6 edge in shot attempts and would finish the game ahead, 14-13. The Terriers though led in corner kicks, 8-4.

Matt McElroy replaced Citriniti at the half and would record all four of the team's saves. Briggs, reigning AE Rookie of the Week after posting five saves last Saturday against Stony Brook, recorded his fourth shutout of the season for BU.

The Terriers will next host Vermont on Wednesday (Oct. 13) at 7 p.m. before flying down to UMBC on Friday (Oct. 15) for a Fox Soccer Channel broadcast.
