No. 44 Harvard Defeats BU, 5-2, in Season Opener

ALLSTON, Mass. - Opening the spring season at 44th-ranked Harvard, the Boston University women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision Saturday afternoon. The Terriers captured two of the three doubles matches and one singles contest.

In doubles, senior Vanessa Steiner returned from injury after missing the last two seasons and teamed with junior Monika Mical for an 8-6 win at No. 3. In the top spot, junior Stefanie Nunic and sophomore Vivien Laszloffy pulled out the 8-4 win at the top spot for the first point of the day.

Laszloffy won the first set in the No. 2 singles match but after losing the second, dropped the tie breaker, 10-5. Leonie-Charlotte Athanasiadis led 5-2 when her opponent retired.

The Terriers will next play at No. 47 Yale on Sunday with action set to begin at 1 p.m.
