WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Freshman Dominique Badji scored in the 78th minute and classmate Nick Thomson recorded two saves to lead the Boston University men's soccer team past Hartford, 1-0, on Saturday night at Alumni Stadium during the America East opener for both squads.

The Terriers conclude their four-game road trip having won three contests and are now one victory away from reaching .500 at 4-5-0. Suffering its third straight loss to BU and seeing its four-game unbeaten streak snapped, the Hawks drop to 3-6-2.

Leading BU with three shots, Badji recorded his second goal of the season and reclaimed the team lead for points with six at 77:03 with what proved to be the game winner. Sophomore Anthony Ciccone sent a cross to the center of the box from the right side, and Badji headed it in for the score.

The Terriers held the Hawks to just four attempts in the contest for an 8-4 advantage in shots. They also had a 3-0 edge in corners.

Thomson posted his second shutout of the season after stopping shots from UH in the 31st and 42nd minutes. The blank sheet was the team's first since BU opened the season with a 2-0 victory at Holy Cross.

Luke Citriniti had two saves for the Hawks, while Atobra Ampadu finished with two shot attempts in the loss.

BU will next return to Nickerson Field on Tuesday (Oct. 4) to host its fourth Big East squad of the season in Providence. Action is set to begin at 7 p.m.
