The No. 12 Boston University field hockey suffered just its second road loss of the season on Sunday, as Hofstra used a first-half goal and a save on a Terrier penalty stroke to come out on top in a 1-0 contest. The Terriers fall to 9-5 on the season while the Pride improves to 6-8.
Jonel Boileau scored the game's lone goal when she got ahead of the BU defense on a rush from the midfield and beat sophomore Valentina Cerda Eimbcke at the 18:48 mark.
With 13:30 left in regulation, the Terriers earned a penalty stroke, which was attempted by senior Jacinda McLeod. Kaitlyn De Turo, who made nine saves on the day, came up with a stop on the stroke to keep BU off the board.
The Terriers outshot the Pride, 11-7, and earned five corners while allowing only one.
Senior Jess Maroney stopped both shots she faced while in the BU goal during the second half while Cerda Eimbcke recorded one first-half save.
The Terriers will return to action on Friday (Oct. 19) when they visit No. 20 New Hampshire in a battle for first place in the America East standings. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
