DURHAM, N.H. - Juniors Kaleigh Fratkin and Louise Warren each lit the lamp, but the No. 5 Boston University women's ice hockey team dropped a 4-2 decision at New Hampshire on Friday night at the Whittemore Center.

BU (7-3-1, 3-2-1 WHEA) nearly erased a 3-0 second-period deficit, but New Hampshire (4-7-0, 2-2-0 WHEA) netted an empty-net goal with 15.8 seconds remaining in regulation to seal the victory.

Warren now has four goals in the last two games, while Fratkin potted her first goal of the season. Senior Alissa Fromkin made 19 saves in her first loss of the season.

UNH took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission before the Wildcats scored twice in a span of 10 seconds to build a three-goal cushion. The Terriers got a good response shift from the line of sophomore Kayla Tutino, senior Jenelle Kohanchuk and freshman Rebecca Russo following the Wildcats' third goal to regain momentum for BU.

That momentum finally led to a goal at the 9:20 mark of the stanza. Kohanchuk skated up the right wing to create a 3-on-2 triangle with Fratkin in the middle and Tutino along the left wing. Kohanchuk passed to Tutino, whose shot was stopped. Tutino crashed into the left post, but the net stayed on its moorings and the puck was sitting for Fratkin, who trailed the play and slid the puck under Jenn Gilligan (24 saves) for her first goal of the season.

It took 3:57 for the Terriers to tally their second goal of the game. Sophomore Shannon Stoneburgh got the puck to senior Isabel Menard, who skated up the right wing in the UNH zone. Before she went around the net, she slid the puck back into the slot for a wide-open Warren, who beat Gilligan high to the blocker side for her fourth goal of the season.

Fromkin came up with a huge save to start the third period, as she stoned Hannah Armstrong on a breakaway chance. She totaled 12 saves over the final two periods to keep the Terriers close.

Fratkin had the Terriers' best chance halfway through the third when she forced a turnover at her own blue line and raced in alone on Gilligan. Her shot was saved, but she was slashed by Brittney Redlick in the process and garnered a power play chance for BU. The referees reviewed the play to see if freshman Sarah Lefort's second effort pushed the puck past the line, but it was ruled that the play was dead before the puck crossed the goal line.

BU pulled Fromkin with 56 seconds remaining in regulation, but the Terriers were unable to net the game-tying goal. Warren hit a post late in the third period as BU suffered a series of near-misses in the final five minutes.

The Terriers will look to get back to their winning ways next Friday (Nov. 16) when they host Providence at Walter Brown Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 5 p.m.
