WORCESTER, Mass. - Senior Jordan Barker scored off a free kick in the 44th minute and classmate Nick Thomson posted five saves to help lead the Boston University men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory at Holy Cross. With their longest unbeaten streak since 2010 at six games, the Boston University men's soccer team improves to 7-2-1 and 3-0-0 in conference action, while the 2013 Patriot League runner-up Crusaders fall to 4-4-2 (1-2-0 PL).

Holy Cross came out of the gate attacking with a corner at 1:00 and shot attempts on goal at 5:50 and 7:10, respectively.  However, Thomson was in position for two saves.

The Terriers eventually settled down offensively with sophomores David Asbjornsson and Felix De Bona both seeing their long shots stopped by Kevin Wright in the 21st and 23rd minutes, respectively. Senior Dominique Badji was held scoreless for the first time in five games but was still dangerous throughout, posting a game-high five shots, including three on net.

Owning a team-high 12 points, Badji collected a Crusader turnover and got around a defender in the 40th minute before firing a low shot toward the far post. Wright came up big with a diving save to keep the game scoreless.

Four minutes later, Wright was unable to protect the net against a BU free kick. Standing near the Holy Cross bench following a Crusader foul from 25 yards out, Barker sent the ball deep into the box toward the right post. It bounced over the players and into the net to give the Terriers the 1-0 advantage.

In the second half, the teams went back and forth with Holy Cross getting its best look in the 74th minute. Near the goal line, the Crusaders sent a cross into the box for Luke Melody. He tried to one-time the ball into the net, but Thomson was in front to stop the point-blank shot.

Thomson made his last save in the 81st minute to preserve his fifth shutout of the season. Wright recorded his seventh and final save with out-stretched hands off a hard shot by Badji in the 86th minute.

The Terriers finished the game ahead in shots, 15-12, while the Crusaders had a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.

BU entered the game tied atop the PL standings with Lehigh. The Mountain Hawks dropped a 2-0 decision to Lafayette Wendesday night and will next host the Terriers on Saturday (Oct. 11) at 7 p.m.
