CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - After beating nine-time defending conference champion Army for the Patriot League title, Boston University women's tennis head coach Lesley Sheehan and sophomore Johanna Hyoty each received major year-end awards, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. Sophomore Lauren Davis and senior Leonie-Charlotte Athanasiadis joined Hyoty in earning All-League honors.

On Monday, both Hyoty and Athanasiadis received Patriot League All-Academic Team honors to add to their awards haul.

With the assistance of Chrissy Cerretani and Rachel Cantor, the 29th-year head coach Sheehan guided the Terriers (14-6) through a dominating performance at the conference tournament in which they defeated three squads by a combined score of 13-1. The win over the Black Knights marked her 350th career victory as the BU coach and gave the program its 23rd overall conference title, first in the Patriot League.

The top three singles players all had stellar seasons and unblemished performances in the Patriot League tournament. Previously recognized as the Player of the Month for March, Hyoty is the first Terrier since Stefanie Nunic in 2010 to be recognized as the conference's top player.

The native of Tampere, Finland, went 13-4 in singles during the dual season and was named the Patriot League Tournament MVP. During the three-day event, she won 34 of 38 games played at the top singles slot. Highlighted by a quarterfinal appearance at the ITA Northeast Regional, she posted a 19-7 (13-4 dual) doubles record with Athanasiadis.

A native of Mitchellville, Maryland, Davis was placed on the All-Conference First Team for the second consecutive year. She split time with Hyoty at the No. 1 and 2 singles positions to finish with an identical record of 13-4 in dual action. Highlights of her season included a three-set win at the No. 2 slot over then-No. 68 Boston College and a round of 16 appearance at the ITA Regionals. In No. 2 doubles, she went 7-4 with freshman Barbara Rodriguez.

Athanasiadis received her fourth All-Conference award after posting a 12-6 record at No. 3 singles. During the PL tournament, she dropped just five games to extend her win streak to seven matches. Placed on the second team, the co-captain from Halterm am See, Germany was also impressive in doubles with Hyoty.

The Terriers' season isn't over yet, as they will be making their 14th NCAA tournament appearance on Friday (May 9) when the visit No. 12 Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, for a 2 p.m. start time.
