2014 Schedule

BOSTON - Entering head coach Neil Roberts' 30th-year at the helm, the Boston University men's soccer team has released its 2014 schedule, highlighted by nine conference matches and 10 home games. All 18 opponents finished last season with an RPI ranking of 187 or better with eight ending the year in double digits.

Coach Roberts first joined the Terriers in 1979 as an assistant coach and took the reins in 1985. During his tenure, BU has posted 25 winning seasons and reached 13 NCAA tournaments.

To help recognize his contributions to the team and the university at large, BU will be hosting an alumni game on Sat., Sept. 27, at 3:30 p.m. with the conference opener against defending Patriot League champion Navy set for 7 p.m.

The Terriers open the 2014 campaign with a two-game homestand. They will kick off at 7 p.m. against Fordham on Friday, Aug. 29, and then host Iona on Sunday, Aug. 31 during Labor Day weekend. The Rams will be playing BU for the first time in program history, and the Gaels will be visiting Nickerson Field for the first time since 1997.

After facing Siena (Sept. 3) for the first time since 1988 on the road, BU returns home to host Brown (Sept. 7) and then UMass (Sept. 13) for the first time in four years. Following a short trip over to Northeastern (Sept. 16), they will welcome Princeton to campus for their first-ever meeting.

BU's second season in the Patriot League begins with the two military academies at home. Army will follow Navy (Sept. 27) a week later on Oct. 4. Six of the Terriers' last nine games will be on the road.

They first pay a visit to Holy Cross (Oct. 8) and Lehigh (Oct. 11). The non-conference schedule concludes with trips to Dartmouth (Oct. 14) and Boston College (Oct. 21). The Terriers host Lafayette on Oct. 18 in-between the two non-conference games and then head south to Loyola Maryland (Oct. 25).

After facing the Greyhounds, BU welcomes Colgate (Oct. 29) and American (Nov. 1) to Nickerson Field. The trip to Bucknell a week later on Nov. 8 will serve as the final game of the regular season.

The top six teams in the Patriot League regular-season standings will participate in the Patriot League Championships. Teams seeded third through sixth will play in quarterfinal games at the higher seeded schools Tuesday, Nov. 11, with winners advancing to face the top two seeds in the semifinals at the regular-season champion Friday, Nov. 14. The Patriot League Championship Game, which will determine the conference's automatic qualifier to the NCAA tournament, will take place Sunday, Nov. 16.
