2015-16 Schedule

BOSTON - Highlighted by 19 home games, including the 38th Annual Women's Beanpot, the Boston University women's ice hockey team and head coach Brian Durocher have announced the Terriers' 2015-16 schedule.

BU will play 34 regular-season games, including 24 Hockey East tilts. Three of those league games will be against Merrimack, which will play in its inaugural Division I season. In addition, the Terriers will play 10 non-conference contests, including two Beanpot games at Walter Brown Arena.

The Terriers will potentially face four of the other seven schools that participated in the 2015 NCAA Tournament, including Frozen Four participant Boston College. They also have a chance to skate against Harvard, last year's national runner-up, in the second Tuesday of the Beanpot. BU will also play Clarkson and Quinnipiac.

"The 2015-16 schedule will once again challenge us to be prepared each night," Durocher said. "We're excited to welcome Penn State and new Hockey East opponent Merrimack on their inaugural visits to Walter Brown Arena. Hosting the Beanpot and 2014 NCAA champion Clarkson will also bring highly entertaining hockey to our campus."

Eight of the Terriers' first 11 games will be at Walter Brown. Following an exhibition against the University of Guelph on Sept. 26, the Terriers will raise their fifth Hockey East championship banner in six years on Oct. 2 before their regular-season opener against Connecticut. After a single-game trip to Maine (Oct. 4), the Terriers will host a four-game homestand against Penn State (Oct. 9-10) and Clarkson (Oct. 16-17). The two tilts against Penn State will be the first in program history.

Durocher and his charges will play nine of their next 10 games against league foes, beginning with a quick trip to crosstown rival Northeastern on Oct. 24. Vermont visits Walter Brown the next day to close out the first month of the season. The Terriers will trek to New Hampshire, host of the 2016 Frozen Four, on Nov. 1 before returning home to face Yale on Nov. 3.

The first two rematches of the 2014 and 2015 Hockey East title games will be on Nov. 7 and Nov. 10 when BU and Boston College complete a home-and-home series. The Terriers then host Maine for a pair of games (Nov. 14-15) prior to their first two dates against Merrimack (Nov. 20-21).

BU will close November at the first annual Windjammer Classic in Burlington, Vermont. Hosted by UVM, the Terriers will face Cornell and Ohio State on Nov. 28 and 29, respectively. A home-and-home against UConn (Dec. 5-6) and a road date at Providence (Dec. 9) round out the calendar year.

Quinnipiac is the final non-conference opponent on the Terriers' docket prior to the Beanpot, and BU will visit the Bobcats on Jan. 20 at 11 a.m. BC (Jan. 9), Providence (Jan. 23) and Merrimack (Jan. 30) are the visitors in January, with trips to Vermont (Jan. 16-17) and Providence (Jan. 24) also on the schedule. The Jan. 23 tilt against Providence will be part of a doubleheader with the men's ice hockey team at Agganis Arena.

February features the return of the Women's Beanpot to Walter Brown. BU last hosted the event in 2012, which was also the last time the Terriers advanced to the title game. They will face Northeastern in the opening round on Feb. 2 before facing either BC or Harvard the following Tuesday (Feb. 9). Home-and-home series against New Hampshire (Feb. 13-14) and Northeastern (Feb. 19-20) will conclude the regular-season slate.

After four straight Hockey East championship victories in Hyannis, the Terriers will have to win their fifth in a row and sixth overall at a new venue. Merrimack will host the 2016 Hockey East semifinals and final; it is the first time the league's championship weekend will be held at a campus site since BU hosted in 2011.
