BOSTON - After a three-game road stretch to open the season, the No. 8 Boston University men's ice hockey team (1-2-0) will open up its home schedule on Friday (Oct. 21) when Sacred Heart (1-2-1) visits Agganis Arena in the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

No. 4/3 Quinnipiac (3-1-1), last year's NCAA runner-up, will make its first trip to Agganis Arena on Saturday (Oct. 22). Friday's game starts at 7:30 and Saturday's will begin at 7 p.m. Both will be streamed live on TerrierTV (GoTerriers.com/TerrierTV).

The Terriers will be looking to rebound after a pair of losses at then-No. 10 Denver last weekend and pick up where they left off at Agganis last season, when they posted a 14-2-2 home record. That .833 winning percentage was the highest in the 12-year history in the building.

Two Division I teams are nicknamed the Pioneers, and the Terriers are playing them back-to-back. Sacred Heart is coming off a 4-4 tie at home against Union on Saturday. These Pioneers are already 1-0 against Hockey East teams this season thanks to a 2-1 triumph at Merrimack on Oct. 9. Their two losses both came at the hands of Army West Point.

Sacred Heart is paced by a top line full of seniors as co-captain Evan Jasper (2g, 1a) and Justin Danforth (1g, 2a) share the team lead in points and have combined with classmate Jordan Minello to put 47 shots on goal through four contests. Danforth is the squad's career points leader with 95 (33g, 62a).

Sophomore Brett Magnus is in his second year as the Pioneers' primary goaltender and has a 2.49 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage thus far this season.

SHU's penalty kill has impressed in the early goings, allowing just two goals in 30 chances, while its power play has struggled, converting on 2-of-21 opportunities.

Quinnipiac is opening its season with seven straight games against Hockey East opponents. After opening with a tie and win at home against Northeastern, the Bobcats split a series up in Maine with each contest going to overtime. On Wednesday, they posted a 5-2 home victory over Connecticut and have now outscored their opponents 7-0 in the first period through the first five games.

Senior Tim Clifton is the top returner from last year's 32-win team that defeated Boston College in the Frozen Four semifinals before falling to North Dakota in the national title game. Clifton and junior Andrew Tavener each have three goals and two assists to top the Bobcats' scoring list. Freshman defenseman Brogan Rafferty is off to a strong start with five points on the strength of a team-best four assists. Five other 20-point scorers from last season have returned as well.

Junior Chris Truel, a transfer from Air Force, has inherited the starting goaltender spot from Michael Garteig, who graduated with 78 wins between the pipes. Through four starts this year, Truel boasts a .920 save percentage a 2.43 save percentage.

Last season in the teams' first-ever meeting, the Terriers knocked off then-No. 2 Quinnipiac, 4-1, at High Point Solutions Arena in Hampden.

Freshman Patrick Harper has kicked off his career with a three-game point streak for the Terriers and has a team-best five points on two goals and three assists. Classmate Clayton Keller, junior Brandon Hickey (1g, 2a) and sophomore Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson (1g, 2a) have contributed three points apiece and 14 Terriers in all have at least one point.

In goal, freshman Jake Oettinger has a .920 save percentage and a 2.38 goals-against average in three starts.

Six of BU's 10 goals thus far have come in the third period and the penalty kill is off to a good start with a 90.9-percent success rate (20-of-22).
