Sammy Davis assisted on both markers, but the No. 9/10 Boston University women's ice hockey team fell to Vermont, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon at Gutterson Fieldhouse.

- Vermont opened up a 1-0 lead with a 4-on-3 goal 3:09 into the game.
- Senior Samantha Sutherland evened the score at the 12:45 mark of the period when she came out of a scrum along the wall with the puck, entered the UVM zone and uncorked a wicked wrist shot that beat Melissa Black (38Â saves)
- The Catamounts answered late in the opening frame when Saana Valkama scored during 4-on-4 play.
- After a scoreless second stanza, Sutherland again struck when she skated into the zone on the left wing and fired home her seventh goal of the season.
- Vermont got the winner with 4:59 remaining in regulation. Hanson appeared to have the puck covered in the crease, but it eventually came loose and Alyssa Gorecki was there to knock it home.
TURNING POINT
- The Terriers had a 5-on-3 advantage for a full two minutes early in the third period but were unable to capitalize. They finished 0-of-6 on the power play.
GAME NOTES
- Senior Victoria Hanson stopped 36 shots in the loss.
- Freshman Abby Cook collected her second assist of the season on Sutherland's first goal.
- Sutherland and Davis have factored on eight of the Terriers' 12 goals this season.
