The Boston University women's ice hockey team will renew its rivalry with No. 4 Boston College this weekend as the teams complete a home-and-home series. Friday's tilt at BC is set for 7 p.m., while the Terriers will host the Eagles Saturday at Walter Brown Arena (3 p.m.)

Saturday's showdown will feature a "Beat BC" t-shirt giveaway and will perhaps be a preview of a potential rematch in the Hockey East title game, hosted this year by BU at Walter Brown Arena.

BU (3-3-1, 2-3-0 WHEA) and BC (6-2-2, 5-1-0 WHEA) will be meeting for the 45th and 46th times at the varsity level. The Terriers gave the Eagles perhaps their biggest regular-season scare last season at Conte Forum, forcing overtime against the unbeaten Eagles before BC escaped with a 4-3 victory. The two teams last met in the 2016 Hockey East title game, with BU unable to win its third straight championship at the expense of BC.

Samantha Sutherland and Maddie Elia have enjoyed the most success against the Eagles of any current Terrier, having notched six points apiece. Elia has five goals and an assist to her credit, including the game-winning goal in the 2014 Hockey East title game.Sutherland has scored twice and assisted on two other goals. Sarah Steele (1g, 2a) and Rebecca Leslie (3a) each have three career points against the Eagles. Sammy Davis had two points (1g, 1a) in four games against BC during her rookie season last year.

In addition, Terrier newcomer Mary Parker had great success against BC while she was with Harvard. She scored four goals against BC, including the game-winning marker in the 2015 Frozen Four, and added two assists for six points while part of the Crimson.

The Terriers own one of the most proficient offenses in the country. Entering this weekend, BU ranks second in the country with an average of 3.86 goals per game. The Terriers also average 7.0 assists per game, which is tied for tops in the NCAA with Princeton. They will go against a stingy BC defense that is eighth in the nation in goals allowed (1.60 per game).

BC is 3-0-1 in its last four games since a 3-2 loss at Maine on Oct. 15, including a sweep of UConn last weekend. Freshman Caitrin Longergan, the Hockey East Rookie of the Month, leads the Eagles with 11 points thanks in part to a team-best six goals.

Junior Megan Keller and sophomore Grace Bizal are tied for the team lead in assists with six. Keller will not be with the Eagles this weekend as she skates with Team USA at the Four Nations Cup in Finland. Junior goaltender Katie Burt is 5-2-2 with a .923 save percentage and a 1.70 goals-against average.

Following this weekend's series, BU will head to Maine for a pair of games against the Black Bears on Nov. 11 and 12.
