BOSTON - During Saturday's men's hockey game, the BU Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted their 12th annual Teddy Bear Toss to benefit local pediatric charities.
Teddy Bears were sold at the game for $10 each with all proceeds raised to be donated to local charities. Fans were also allowed to bring new stuffed animals to the game to throw onto the ice during the second intermission.
In all, over $1,140 was raised and over 350 stuffed animals were collected and will be donated to Boston Medical Center.
"We look forward to holding the annual The Teddy Bear Toss every year," said SAAC vice president and member of the Boston University men's tennis team Jake De Vries who helped organize the event. "It is a great cause and our student-athletes are looking forward to delivering the teddy bears to the Boston Medical Center and putting a smile on the faces of hundreds of deserving children this holiday season."
In the upcoming days, SAAC member will begin to donate the collected teddy bears to the Boston Medical Center when they travel to the hospital to visit with children.
