CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Competing in its final regular season match, the Boston University women's tennis team dropped a hard-fought 5-2 decision at No. 64 Boston College on Friday afternoon.

The Eagles (9-12) won the doubles point by a combined 18-5 and then captured the top four singles points, including two in three sets, to defeat the Terriers (9-8).

Junior Barbara Rodriguez (6-1, 6-0) and freshman Remi Ramos (6-0, 6-3) led BU with dominating singles performances in the No. 5 and 6 slots, respectively.

The Eagles grabbed a 3-2 lead with straight-set wins at No. 2 and 3 against senior Lauren Davis and sophomore Iryna Kostirko, leaving two points up for grabs.

Seeking the upset, senior Johanna Hyoty won her first set in the top line, but No. 70-nationally ranked Asiya Dair rallied for the 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 win. BC's Emily Safron also rallied from a set down to defeat freshman Sabrina Faybyshev, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2, at line 4 and seal the win for the Eagles.

BU will next be seeking its third straight Patriot League title at Navy over the following weekend with the quarterfinals slated for Friday, April 22 at a time to be determined.
