ANNAPOLIS, Md. -
The two-time defending conference champion Boston University women's tennis team opened the Patriot League tournament with a dominating 5-0 victory over Holy Cross Friday morning at Navy's Fluegel-Moore Tennis Stadium.
The Terriers (10-8) won all three doubles matches by a combined score of 18-1 and then dropped just six total games in singles action to defeat the Crusaders (7-11).
Freshman Sabrina Faybyshev led the way by first teaming with senior Johanna Hyoty for a 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles and then 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles. Classmate Remi Ramos also achieved similar success at No. 3 doubles with senior Lauren Davis and at No. 5 singles.
Sophomore Iryna Kostirko (#2) and junior Barbara Rodriguez (#4) only lost one game apiece in singles after teaming together for a 6-1 victory in the No. 2 doubles slot.
BU will next face No. 4 Bucknell, who posted a 4-2 win over No. 5 Lehigh, on Saturday at 9 a.m. in the PL semifinals.
