ALLSTON, Mass. – The Boston University women's tennis team competed over the weekend at the three-day Harvard Fall Classic, which featured the host Crimson, UConn and Delaware.

Senior and two-time All-Patriot League First Team honoree Iryna Kostirko won both of her matches with three-set victories against UConn (6-3, 3-6, 6-4) and Delaware (4-6, 7-6, 6-1). She was one of three Terriers to record two singles wins with freshmen Lily Burchell and Katya Martens also accomplishing the feat. 

Burchell rolled to comfortable straight-set wins against Georgetown (6-0, 6-4) and Delaware (6-0, 6-2), dropping just six games, but came up short of a perfect weekend with a 6-4, 6-2 loss to UConn. Martens bounced back from a hard-fought 7-6, 7-5 loss to Georgetown with comfortable straight-set victories against the Huskies (6-2, 6-3) and Blue Hens (6-3, 6-3). 

Martens also collected two doubles wins against the same two schools with freshman Dani Blaser, who was one of two other freshmen to earn a singles win alongside Emily Kim. Junior Sabrina Faybyshev dropped just two games in her lone singles match against Delaware and teamed with Kostirko for a doubles win over the Blue Hens as well.

The Terriers will next compete at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships on Oct. 18-23 at Penn in Philadelphia alongside junior and reigning PL Player of the Year Remi Ramos, who spent her week at the Oracle ITA Masters tournament in California.
