BOSTON – Looking to carry momentum from the Turnpike Trophy win over Holy Cross, the Boston University men's soccer team will welcome Lafayette to Nickerson Field on Saturday with the start time slated for 3 p.m.

BU will first host its annual alumni game at 12 p.m. and then open the gates at 2 p.m. for Soc'toberFest, which will include free food, giveaways and a 21+ beer garden. 

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • Following the victory against the Crusaders, BU is 2-1-0 in conference play with a 2-1 home win over American and 2-1 OT home loss to Lehigh.
  • Freshman John Siracuse became the fifth Terrier to score a goal this season with his 14th-minute strike, and it came on his first-career shot attempt.
  • Junior Satchel Cortet earned his third assist of the year on the score to move into second on the team with seven points (2g,3a) ... Junior Matt McDonnell (6g) has the team lead at 12 points but has missed the last six games to injury.
  • Senior Mike Bernardi posted five saves and had help from the backline for another save, as they claimed their first shutout of the season ... Bernardi now has a 0.773 save percentage and 1.37 goals against average.
  • Opponents are averaging 2.9 more shot attempts than the Terriers and also lead in corner kicks, 42-28
SCOUTING LAFAYETTE
  • The Leopards are on a four-game winless streak with 1-0 losses to Army and Bucknell and 1-1 draws against Holy Cross and Fairleigh Dickinson.
  • Three of Lafayette's four wins came on the road against Monmouth (1-0), Stony Brook (1-0) and Siena (2-1).
  • Despite only appearing in six games, James Gibson has a team-high four goals with Chris Gomez owning three of the other five team goals.
  • Ryan Goncalves leads Lafayette with five assists, while Andrew Venezia has three helpers. 
  • Highlighted by three shutouts, Alex Sutton has played every minute at net this season and owns a 0.758 save percentage and 0.76 goals against average.
  • The Leopards are averaging 2.1 more shots per game than opponents.
SERIES HISTORY
  • BU is 4-1-0 all-time in the series dating back to 2013 and has won the last four meetings by a combined score of 7-1 with three straight shutouts.
  • After suffering a 2-0 road loss in 2013, BU claimed a 3-1 home win in 2014 and then a 1-0 victory at Nickerson Field in 2016 with the help of a stellar save on Lafayette's penalty kick attempt.
  • Last season, Butzke assisted on goals by both D'Anna and McDonnell in the second half, while Bernardi had four saves to preserve the 2-0 road victory.
