The Boston University women's ice hockey team will look to win its first Beanpot title as a varsity program on Tuesday night when the Terriers face No. 3 Boston College at Conte Forum. Puck drop for the 40th Women's Beanpot championship is set for 7:30 p.m.

COULD THIS BE THE YEAR?

  • BU is still in search of its first Beanpot title as a varsity program.
  • The Terriers' lone Beanpot title came in 1981, when they were still a club team.

40TH ANNIVERSARY TEAM SELECTIONS

  • Two members of that 1981 championship squad, Lisa Whitcomb Huckins and Deb Gautreau Parece, were named to the 40th Anniversary Team earlier this year.
  • As a freshman, Whitcomb Huckins did not allow a single goal in either game during the 1981 tournament en route to earing Most Valuable Player honors.
  • Gautreau Parece scored two goals in the 1981 title game and also tallied a goal and assisted on the game-winner in the Terriers' opening-round victory.

TERRIERS IN THE TITLE GAME

  • This is the Terriers' fourth title game appearance as a varsity program and their first since 2012 at Walter Brown Arena.
  • BU has appeared in six championship contests overall, with the other two coming in 1981 and 1982.
  • The Terriers' lone Beanpot came at the expense of Boston College, 4-0.
  • BU also faced BC in the 2007 title tilt.

HISTORY IN THE BEANPOT

  • The Terriers have defeated BC seven times in the Beanpot, the most wins over any of the other three schools in this tournament.
  • The Terriers have tallied at least two goals in each of their last eight Beanpot contests.
