The Boston University women's ice hockey team will close out the 2017-18 regular season this weekend with a home-and-home series against New Hampshire that begins Saturday at the Whittemore Center. The two teams will then face off at Walter Brown Arena on Sunday at 3 p.m.
BU will honor its six-member senior class on Sunday afternoon prior to puck drop. Sunday is also the 11th annual ChiliFest. Fans can enjoy four different kinds of complimentary chili provided by BU Dining. In addition, there will be a BU hockey mug giveaway.
LAST TIME AGAINST THE WILDCATS
HISTORY WITH UNH
- BU is 24-15-4 all-time against UNH, including a 14-7-1 home record and a 9-7-3 mark at the Whittemore Center.
- The Terriers are 16-1-1 in their last 18 contests against the Wildcats.
- Since BU earned its first win over New Hampshire on Oct. 23, 2008, the Terriers have not lost two straight tilts to the Wildcats.
BEST OF BU AGAINST UNH
- Rebecca Leslie leads the Terriers in points (18) and assists (9) against UNH, and her nine goals is second on the squad.
- Victoria Bach's 10 goals against the Wildcats is tops on the Terriers, and she also has seven assists for 17 points.
- Abby Cook has tallied five points (1g, 4a), while Savannah Newton and Nina Rodgers each have three helpers.
- Natasza Tarnowski has scored two goals against the Wildcats while Connor Galway and Deziray De Sousa each have two assists apiece against UNH.
- In total, 14 different Terriers have notched at least one point against New Hampshire.
WHAT'S UP WITH THE WILDCATS?
- New Hampshire enters the final weekend of the season with a chance to finish anywhere from second to fifth in the Hockey East standings.
- The Wildcats knocked off Boston College, 2-1, at Conte Forum last Friday.
- Sophomore Meghara McManus leads the Wildcats with 19 points thanks to a team-best 11 goals.
- Senior Amy Schlagel has also tallied 11 goals.
- Senior Carlee Toews and sophomore Tori Howran each have a team-high 12 assists this season.
- Freshman Ava Boutilier has started all 28 games in which she has appeared, posting a 2.15 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage.
LOT ON THE LINE THIS WEEKEND
- BU has clinched a spot in the Hockey East playoffs, but the postseason picture remains murky entering this weekend.
- The Terriers can finish sixth, seventh or eighth, but two wins guarantees BU will get the sixth seed.
- BU will hit the road next weekend, but the Terriers' destination is also up in the air entering this weekend.
- They can potentially face UNH, Boston College, Maine or Providence.
