Terriers Cruise Past Holy Cross, 7-0

BOSTON – Earning its second straight sweep, the Boston University women's tennis team cruised past Holy Cross, 7-0, on Thursday night at the Track & Tennis Center.

The Terriers won all three doubles matches by a combined score of 18-2 and then did not drop a set in capturing all six singles points.

Senior Iryna Kostirko was named the Turnpike Trophy MVP after she won her singles match, 6-0, 6-0 at line 1. The Terriers' win gave BU a 12-4 lead in the Turnpike Trophy standings.

MATCH NOTES
  • The defending PL champion Terriers improved to 2-0 in conference play following an earlier 5-2 win against Navy.
  • Junior Remi Ramos teamed with freshman Lily Burchell for a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles, with freshmen Katya Martens and Dani Blaser combining for a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles.
  • Sophomore Lily O'Fagan and junior Kaely Malik won all six games at No. 3 doubles.
  • Martens (#3) joined Kostirko (#1) in earning identical 6-0, 6-0 victories in singles action.
  • Blaser (#4) dropped just one game at singles, while junior Sophia Kryloff (#5) and sophomore Clara Falxa (#6) each lost just one game per set in their victories.
  • Freshman Emily Kim earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory at line 2 to complete the sweep.
