HAMDEN, Conn. – Highlighted by a pair of singles flight title victories, the Boston University women's tennis team opened the fall schedule at the three-day Quinnipiac Invitational.

The Terriers went a combined 15-7 (.682) in singles action and 9-3 (.750) in doubles against competitors from the host Bobcats, Army, Bryant, Connecticut, Fairfield, Providence and Sacred Heart.

A five-star recruit according to TennisRecruiting.net, freshman Shelly Yaloz went a combined 8-0 in her debut as a Terrier with four straight-set singles victories in the B Flight and four wins in the top doubles flight alongside sophomore Emily Kim. They faced off in the A Final against fellow teammates Remi Ramos and Lily Burchell, who dropped just two games total through their first three doubles matches.

Sophomore Katya Martens also had a strong performance in singles, claiming the C Flight title with two wins coming against Patriot League rival Army West Point. In the final, she dispatched 2018 All-PL First Team honoree Melanie Allen in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.

The Terriers will next compete at the Yale Invitational on Friday, Sept. 28 - Sunday, Sept. 30.
