NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Following a two-week break, the Boston University women's tennis team resumed its fall schedule over the weekend at the Bulldog Invitational.
There were no set brackets for the three-day event, as BU faced off against host Yale on Friday, Dartmouth on Saturday and UMass on Sunday.
Both freshman Shelly Yaloz and sophomore Emily Kim collected two singles wins while teaming together for a pair of doubles victories against both Dartmouth and UMass.
Yaloz opened the competition with an impressive 6-4, 6-2 victory against Yale sophomore and former blue-chip recruit Caroline Dunleavy. Following a loss to Dartmouth's five-star recruit Nicole Conard (6-2, 6-0), she rebounded with a 6-2, 6-2 victory against UMass' 2018 All-A10 First Team member Ruth Crawford.
Kim recorded a split against two five-star recruits, first falling to Yale's Jessie Gong (6-2, 6-0) and then dispatching Madison Hwang, 6-0, 3-6, 7-5. She then completed the event with a 6-4, 6-2 win over 2018 All-A10 Second Team member Janja Kovacevic.
After missing all of last spring due to injury, senior Sabrina Faybyshev returned to the court with three singles wins, starting with a 6-1 win against Yale and then two straight-set victories over the Big Green and Minutewomen.
The Terriers will return to New Haven on Oct. 11 for the ITA Regional Championships.
