Terriers Trek to Maine for Sunday Showdown with Black Bears

The Boston University women's ice hockey team will continue a stretch of five straight road games when the Terriers travel to Maine for a Sunday showdown with the Black Bears. Puck drop is set for 2 p.m.

BU (2-1-1, 1-1-1 HEAW) enters the contest having just shut out UConn, 1-0, on Friday night. 

ROAD WARRIORS

  • This is the third tilt in that aforementioned five-game road trip.
  • BU will complete its time on the road with a two-game series against Penn State on Oct. 25 and 26.
  • The Terriers won't play two consecutive home games until Nov. 12, 15 and 19 when they host Yale, Boston College and Harvard.

RECAPPING THE UCONN WIN

  • Junior Corinne Schroeder stopped all 38 shots she faced and senior Deziray De Sousa scored her first goal of the year with 51.4 seconds to play in the second stanza to lift BU to a 1-0 win at UConn on Friday night.
  • Senior Abby Cook and sophomore Courtney Correia assisted on De Sousa's goal.
  • Schroeder made 11 of her saves during the penalty kill.

HISTORY WITH MAINE

  • BU is 28-15-2 all-time against Maine, including a 14-9-0 record at Alfond Arena.
  • The Terriers went 1-2-0 against Maine last year.
  • Of those two losses, both were decided by just one goal.

SCOUTING MAINE

  • The Black Bears are 2-2-1 after a 6-1 home loss to No. 3 Northeastern on Friday.
  • Senior Tereza Vanišová scored the lone Maine goal on Friday and leads the team with three goals and five points.
  • Senior Brittany Colton has a team-high three assists.
  • Ten different Black Bears have lit the lamp this season.
  • Junior Loryn Porter has started all three games in which she has appeared, including a 0-0 tie against Quinnipiac and the loss to NU.
  • Porter has posted two shutouts and owns a .911 save percentage along with a 1.91 goals-against average.
  • Senior Carly Jackson has also played three games, owning a .935 save percentage and a 1.58 goals-against average.
