BOSTON - The Boston University Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted their 15th annual Teddy Bear Toss to benefit local pediatric charities during Saturday's men's ice hockey game.
Teddy Bears were sold at the game for $10 each with all proceeds raised donated to local charities. Fans were also allowed to bring new stuffed animals to the game to throw onto the ice during the second intermission.
In all, more than $2,200 was raised and more than 200 stuffed animals were sold and later collected and will be donated to Boston Medical Center's pediatric unit.
"We always look forward to hosting the Teddy Bear Toss, it is one of our favorite charity events of the year," said SAAC community service liaison Sydney Lee of the Boston University women's swimming & diving team. "We were able to raise money for the pediatrics department at Boston Medical Center and donate hundreds of Teddy bears to deserving children this holiday season."
