HAMDEN, Conn. – The Boston University women's tennis team opened the 2019 fall schedule in impressive fashion, capturing four total flight titles at the three-day Quinnipiac Invitational.

Lily Burchell led the way, capturing the B Singles title and the A Flight title alongside 2019 PL Rookie of the Year

Erica Di Battista put the PL on notice, capturing the A Flight title with a pair of straight-set wins against UConn and a victory against Army's No. 2 singles player from last spring's PL championship final. Junior
Katya Martens repeated as the C Flight singles champion and reached the doubles final in the B Flight with freshman
Sofia Kostirko.
In total, BU went a combined 26-6 (.813) with a 17-3 mark in singles that had two losses result from injury. All eight Terriers competing collected at least one singles victory, and three of the four doubles teams earned at least two wins.
Di Battista dropped just three games in her first match as a Terrier with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Fairfield's Paulina Bakaite. She continued roll past the competition with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Army's Caroline Vincent and finished atop the A Flight with back-to-back wins over the Huskies. Emily Kim, she dropped a hard-fought 6-4 decision to UConn's Julieanne Bou and Cassie Chung, but Burchell and Yaloz avenged that loss with a 6-1 victory in the A Final.
En route to their doubles title, Burchell and Yaloz collected a pair of wins over Army. During singles action, Burchell also defeated the Black Knights in straight sets to win her respective singles flight. Martens picked up two victories against Army in singles action as well, highlighted by a thrilling 6-3, 6-7(4), 10-8 victory in her final.
BU will next compete at the Harvard Fall Classic on Sept. 20-22.
