February 27, 2020

BOSTON – Competing in a pair of matches against New England rivals, the Boston University women's tennis team will visit Boston College on Friday before hosting Dartmouth on Saturday at the Mount Auburn Club.

The Terriers (5-2) recorded a split this past weekend against Ivy League schools with a 5-2 win at Brown and 7-0 loss at Harvard. They will meet the Eagles (8-4) with a 2 p.m. start time and then face off against the Big Green (5-5) a day later at 3 p.m. BU is 3-0 at home so far this season with sweeps against Binghamton, Bryant and Rhode Island.

Freshman Erica Di Battista ranks 116th nationally at 15-2 in singles, including a 6-1 mark at line 1 during the dual season. Both freshman Steph Nguyen and junior Lily Burchell own five victories apiece in 2020, while juniors Alex Angyalosy and Emily Kim have four victories.

On the doubles side, Di Battista and Angyalosy have teamed for a 9-6 overall record and 3-4 dual mark, including 2-0 in the top slot. Reigning Patriot League Doubles Team of the Year members Kim and sophomore Shelly Yaloz are 3-2 in 2020 with an 8-5 overall record. In the No. 3 slot, Burchell has collected one win apiece with Nguyen, freshman Sofia Kostirko and junior Katya Martens.

Boston College last week fell to then-No. 10 Duke and No. 11 Georgia Tech by a combined score of 10-1. The Eagles own notable wins against No. 35 Yale (5-2), Harvard (4-3), UMass (7-0), Dartmouth (4-3) and Fordham (5-2). They are led by No. 90 Yufei Long, who has lost her last four matches after upsetting current No. 15 Natasha Subhash from Virginia and Yale's No. 46 Samantha Martinelli. The Eagles have won the last six meetings against the Terriers after BU pulled out a 4-3 road win in 2013.

The Big Green have two wins apiece against both UMass (4-0, 4-1) and Brown (4-1, 6-1). Dartmouth most recently dropped a 4-2 decision to Michigan State over the weekend at home. The Terriers last year posted a 4-3 win in New Hampshire and will try to win back-to-back matches in the series for the first time since 2006-07.
