The Boston University women's soccer team will travel to Bucknell on Saturday in a battle for first place in the Patriot League. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
The Terriers and the Bison entered the week tied for first place in the Patriot League standings, but after a BU win and a Bucknell draw on Wednesday, the Terriers are two points clear of the Bison. If either team wins on Saturday, it will be in first place heading into the final two games of the regular season.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU extended its win streak to five games with a 3-0 home win over Holy Cross on Wednesday.
- Senior Amy Thompson, freshman Morgan Fagan and junior Marli Rajacich all scored for BU.
- Sophomore Abigail McNulty recorded a career-best two assists while juniors Geovanna Pereira and Sophia Woodland.
- Rajacich became the 10th different Terrier to score a goal this season while Fagan became the fifth Terrier to notch at least two goals this year.
- Thompson is tied with classmate Jenna Oldham for the team lead in goals (4), with Oldham leading the squad in both assists (6) and points (14)
- BU extended its shutout streak to 402:49, as freshman Celia Braun and Gretchen Bennett combined for their fourth straight clean sheet.
- Braun and Bennett have split time in all 15 games this season.
- Bennett has allowed just one goal over her last eight appearances.
SCOUTING THE BISON
- Like BU, Bucknell's lone conference loss this year is to Colgate.
- The Bison drew at Loyola Maryland, 1-1, on Wednesday.
- Junior Rylee Donaldson scored the lone goal in that contest for Bucknell, her team-leading ninth strike of the season.
- Donaldson leads Bucknell with 19 points, followed by freshman assist leader Teresa Deda (1g, 8a) and junior Abby Gearhart (3g, 4a) with 10 points apiece.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Jenna Hall has started all 15 contests for the Bison, posting for solo shutouts and averaging nearly five saves per game.
SERIES HISTORY
- BU and Bucknell have split their 10 matchups since BU joined the Patriot League, with the Bison winning the last meeting, 1-0, on Sept. 28, 2019, in Lewisburg.
- The Terriers' last triumph over Bucknell was a 2-0 victory at Nickerson Field on Oct. 20, 2018.
