After recognizing the senior class, the Boston University women's soccer team will continue a three-game homestand on Saturday when the Terriers welcome American to Nickerson Field for a Patriot League match. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. though fans are encouraged to arrive early for the Senior Day ceremony.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU extended its win streak to three games with a 1-0 home win over Yale on Tuesday night.
- Senior Ashley Raphael slotted home the winner with 4:48 remaining in regulation.
- Classmate Jenna Oldham earned the assist on Raphael's goal, as her shot that hit the post bounced to Raphael.
- Junior Gretchen Bennett played the second half and made three terrific saves to keep Yale off the board.
- She combined with freshman Celia Braun to record the team's second straight clean sheet and fourth overall this season.
- The Terriers enter Saturday with a 3-1-0 record in conference play and have won five of their last six overall..
- Oldham leads the Terriers in goals (4), assists (6) and points (14), with senior Margaret Berry (3g), Sophomore Abigail McNulty (2g, 2a) and senior Amy Thompson (3g) tied for second on the squad with six points apiece.
- Braun and Bennett have split time in all 13 games this season.
- Bennett has allowed just one goal over her last six appearances.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
- American has won two straight conference games and is 2-0-1 in the league entering Saturday.
- Four of American's five wins have been on the road.
- The Eagles last played on Oct. 2 when they defeated Army West Point, 1-0, at home.
- Senior Emily Smith scored her first goal since Oct. 19, 2019 to lift American to the win.
- Senior Tate Jordan leads the Eagles with five goals and 14 points.
- Smith is tied with junior Alysa Vazquez for the team lead in assists with three.
- Freshman goalkeeper Julia Kato has played every minute for American this season, posting three clean sheets.
