BOSTON - The Boston University field hockey team hosts Lafayette on Saturday (Oct. 9) in a key Patriot League matchup before heading to No. 19 UConn for a matinee with the Huskies on Sunday (Oct. 10).

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • Looking to get back into the Patriot League race, BU gets a prime opportunity to reverse its recent fortune with a contest against Lafayette.
  • Freshman Payton Anderson has team highs in points (14), goals (6) and shots (26).
  • Junior Rachel Borzymowski scored her first collegiate goal in the Terriers' most recent game - a 3-2 loss to No. 25 Maine - and ranks tied for second nationally in defensive saves with six.
  • Senior Casey Thompson has a team-best four assists this season.
  • Junior Caroline Kelly has tallied eight or more saves in each of the past three games.
SCOUTING THE LEOPARDS
  • Lafayette has won its past three contests and hasn't suffered a loss in regulation this season.
  • The Leopards most recently earned a 2-1 win over Fairfield on Sunday.
  • Senior Audrey Sawars leads the Leopards in points (18), goals (8) and shots (45).
  • Junior Felicitas Hannas has added 15 points on the strength of a team-best seven goals.
  • Senior Hailey Abbott has started all 10 games in goal and has an impressive 0.91 goals-against average to go along with a .700 save percentage.
BU-LAFAYETTE SERIES HISTORY
  • The Terriers are 7-2 all-time against Lafayette and earned a 2-1 road win last season in Easton thanks to an overtime goal from Alexis Pettisani.
  • BU won its first four home contests against the Leopards but dropped a 3-2 double-overtime contest to them at New Balance Field in 2019.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
  • UConn has hovered around. 500 all season and earned its sixth win of the season on Friday in a 1-0 road triumph over Quinnipiac.
  • Ten of the Huskies' 13 opponents have been ranked at the time they faced them and their top win thus far was a 1-0 contest against then-No. 13 Harvard on Sept. 19.
  • Junior McKenna Sergi (4g) and freshman Sophia Ugo (3g, 2a) lead the way with eight points apiece.
  • Graduate student Jessica Dembrowski (2g, 2a) and junior Claire Jandewerth (3g) have each added six points this season.
  • In goal, redshirt senior Cheyenne Sprecher has a 1.67 goals-against average and a .788 save percentage.
BU-UCONN HISTORY
  • This will be the 43rd meeting between BU and UConn with the Huskies holding a 34-8 advantage in the series, which dates back to 1982.
  • The teams had met every season since the first meeting until COVID rules forced BU to play only Patriot League opponents last year.
