BU, Holy Cross to Begin Home-and-Home Series Thursday in Worcester

The Boston University women's ice hockey team will begin a home-and-home series against Holy Cross on Thursday night at Hart Center before the teams return to Walter Brown Arena on Friday night. Puck drop on Thursday is scheduled for 6 p.m., with Friday's game set for 7 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS

  • The Terriers' unbeaten run in league play (4-0-3) came to an end this past weekend with a pair of one-goal losses to UConn.
  • Senior Courtney Correia scored the Terriers' lone goal in a 2-1 defeat on Nov. 5, with sophomore Tamara Giaquinto and junior Julia Nearis providing the assists.
  • Senior Kate Stuart made 60 saves over the weekend, totaling 33 in the 2-1 loss and 27 in a 1-0 defeat.
  • Stuart owns a 1.19 goals-against average and a .958 save percentage over her last five starts.
  • The Terriers have gone 19-for-20 (.950) on the penalty kill over the last five games, including a 13-for-13 stretch that ended in the third period of the Nov. 5 game at UConn.
  • Junior Nadia Mattivi will miss this weekend's games as she skates with the Italian National Team in the final round of Olympic qualification, which begins Thursday in Germany.

SCOUTING THE CRUSADERS

  • Holy Cross is searching for its first conference win of the season.
  • The Crusaders are 1-10-0 overall, earning a 2-0 triumph over Franklin Pierce on Oct. 15.
  • The Crusaders' last five losses have all been by two-goal margins, including a 5-3 defeat at Merrimack on Nov. 6.
  • Sophomore Millie Sirum leads Holy Cross with five points thanks to two assists and a team-best three goals.
  • Junior Darci Johal also has three goals and is one of three players with four points.
  • Four different Crusaders are tied for the team lead with three assists apiece.
  • Senior Jada Brenon is 1-8-0 with an .899 save percentage and a 3.76 goals-against average.
  • Brenon holds the Holy Cross record for career saves with 2,475 stops.

HISTORY WITH THE CRUSADERS

  • BU and Holy Cross are meeting in the regular season for the first time since Feb. 8, 2020.
  • The two sides did face off this season, but it was an exhibition contest.
  • BU won that game, 2-0, on Sept. 25 at Walter Brown Arena.
  • The Terriers have won all six regular-season meetings against the Crusaders, outscoring them by a 31-7 margin.
  • Those six victories are split evenly between the Hart Center and Walter Brown Arena.
  • BU has held Holy Cross to just one goal in all but one contest, a 5-2 victory in that aforementioned Feb. 8 showdown.
