Men's Soccer to Honor Senior Class, Host Holy Cross Wednesday Evening

BOSTON – After honoring the senior class, the Boston University men's soccer team will wrap up the 2021 season by hosting Holy Cross Wednesday evening at Nickerson Field with action slated to begin at 6 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU will be recognizing Nate Cole, Miles Dycaico, Peter Kargbo, Florian Rieder and Michael Stone.
  • The Terriers are 3-2-0 at Nickerson Field this fall, winning the last three meetings against Navy, Colgate and Northeastern by a combined score of 6-1.
  • The Terriers had their four-game unbeaten streak snapped this past Saturday at Lehigh, 5-3, while also being eliminated from contention for a Patriot League tournament berth.
  • Junior Quinn Matulis earned BU's fourth brace of the season to help the Terriers cut a three-goal deficit to just one in the middle of the second half.
  • Matulis totaled five of his nine points this season by assisting on sophomore Aidan Bone's first career goal.
  • Junior Ronaldo Marshall remains the team leader with 10 points at four goals and two assists.
  • Junior Francesco Montali has 12 starts at net this fall, earning a .696 save percentage and 1.69 goals against average.
  • Opponents are averaging 2.2 more shots per game with an 88-68 advantage in corners.
SCOUTING HOLY CROSS
  • Coming off Saturday's 2-2 draw to Lafayette, the Crusaders are on a four-game winless streak with losses to Harvard (3-2), Brown (3-2) and Army (2-0) 
  • Holy Cross is tied for second at 16 points in the PL standings and will need a win over BU along with some help to claim the conference regular season title.
  • The Crusaders have had far more success at home with a 7-1-1 record compared to the 1-5-2 road mark.
  • Evan Jones leads HC at 22 points off eight goals and six assists, while Max Krause owns 20 points off six goals and eight assists.
  • Jimmy Joyce has started 16 games at net, posting a .645 save percentage and 1.36 goals against average along with four shutouts.
  • Opponents are averaging 2.9 more shots per game with a 95-73 advantage in corners. 
SERIES HISTORY
  • BU is 13-4-1 all-time in the series that dates back to 1967.
  • The Crusaders have won the last two meetings, pulling out a 2-1 home win this past spring after scoring a goal with just 18 seconds left in regulation.
  • In the last visit to Nickerson Field, HC claimed a 1-0 win.
