Women's Tennis Opens PL Tourney with 4-0 Win over Lafayette

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Extending its win streak to seven matches, the top-seeded Boston University women's tennis team opened the Patriot League tournament with a 4-0 win over No. 8 Lafayette on Friday morning at Navy's Tose Family Tennis Center.

The Terriers (8-1) needed just to 80 minutes to eliminate the Leopards (4-7) and improve to a perfect 7-0 in the PL quarterfinal round. The contest was played indoors due to wind conditions.

Freshman Kaitlin Tan led the way, winning all 18 of her games played. She first teamed with junior Shelly Yaloz for a 6-0 victory at No. 3 doubles and then cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles.

Sophomore Erica Di Battista teamed with freshman Victoria Carlsten for a 6-1 win in the No. 2 slot before cruising to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles. Senior Emily Kim completed the sweep with a 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.

The Terriers will next face No. 5 Bucknell, a 4-2 winner over No. 5 Lehigh, in the semifinals on Saturday (May 1) at 10 a.m.
