BOSTON – Resuming a rivalry that dates back to 1967, the Boston University men's soccer team will visit crosstown rival Boston College on Monday afternoon with the ACC Network broadcast slated for 5:30 p.m.

The two teams had met every year until 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic delayed their respective seasons to this past spring in which they only faced conference opponents.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU (0-1-0) held No. 20 New Hampshire scoreless for 82 minutes Thursday night at Nickerson Field before the Wildcats pulled away with two late strikes.
  • Starting in his debut, junior Florida International transfer Francesco Montali claimed five saves at the net.
  • Besides Montali, seven others made their first appearance as Terriers with freshman Daniel Rosario, freshman Brian Hernandez, sophomore Clemson transfer Matthew Boberg and junior Kentucky transfer Colin Innes all earning the start.
  • Both Rosario, a World Cup qualifier participant this past spring with the Puerto Rico National Team, and Montali were the only two Terriers to be on the field for all 90 minutes.
  • UNH became the first opponent in five contests to prevent junior and All-Patriot League honoree Ronaldo Marshall from tabulating a point after he totaled eight during the spring campaign off three goals and two assists.
SCOUTING BOSTON COLLEGE
  • The Eagles (0-1-0) struck first at Quinnipiac in the 12th minute this past Thursday before the Bobcats rallied in the second half with the help of a penalty kick in the 66th minute for a 2-1 victory.
  • BC owned a 19-13 advantage in shots along with a 7-3 lead in corner kicks.
  • Michael Suski scored BC's lone goal after leading the Eagles in the spring with six points off three goals and two assists.
  • Christian Garner made three saves in the contest after posting a 1.12 goals against average and 0.767 save percentage in the spring.
  • The Eagles were selected to finish fourth out of six teams in the ACC's Atlantic Division while receiving one first-place vote.
SERIES HISTORY
  • BC leads the series, 28-18-9, that dates back to 1967 and is on a seven-game unbeaten streak.
  • BU earned a 1-0 road win in 2012 and saw Matt McDonnell ('19) claim the Terriers' first hat trick in a decade for a 3-3 draw at BC in 2018.
  • In the last meeting in 2019, the Eagles pulled out a 1-0 at Nickerson Field with a fourth-minute strike and five saves.
  • For the first time since 1978, fans will not see either Neil Roberts or Ed Kelly on the sideline. Roberts served as a BU assistant from 1979-1984 and then head coach from 1985-2019, while Kelly was BC head coach from 1988-2019. The two men retired in Nov. 2019 with a combined 656-457-160 record at the two schools.
UP NEXT
  • The Terriers will return home to host UMass on Friday (Sept. 3) for a 7 p.m. start time.
