Women’s Soccer Visits Holy Cross On Wednesday

BOSTON – Returning to the Bay State to close out a three-game road trip, the Boston University women's soccer program seeks its fifth consecutive win when it heads to Holy Cross on Wednesday (Oct. 12). Opening kick is set for 7 p.m.
 
BU, which has shut out all four of its opponents during its four-game streak, sits tied atop the Patriot League table alongside Bucknell with 12 points. Each league foe has four matches remaining on the schedule.
 
Holy Cross, meanwhile, has lost four in a row as it seeks its first win of the year. Three of those games have been one-goal decisions, however.
 
TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU comes off a 1-0 road victory at American on Saturday (Oct. 8).
  • Sophomore Morgan Fagan increased her points streak to three games with a goal in the 59th minute.
  • The Terrier defense allowed just one shot on goal in 90 minutes, with sophomore Celia Braun making the lone save.
  • Junior Abigail McNulty recorded the primary assist on Fagan's goal to cap a three-point week, leading to her second Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week honor.
  • Braun was tabbed as the Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week after making 10 saves on 29 shots faced in 135 minutes across two games.
  • On Tuesday, BU Athletic Hall of Fame unveiled its Class of 2022. Megan Cross Hannon became the second women's soccer student-athlete to be inducted into the hall of fame, joining Deidre Enos.
  • At the 54th induction banquet, alumna Ann Marie Jaworski will also be formally recognized after receiving the Aldo "Buff" Donelli Memorial Leadership Award at the Scarlet & White Honors reception in April.
  • As a team, the Terriers have not allowed a goal in the 391:38 minutes of play, dating back to Sept. 21.
  • The trio of Fagan, McNulty, and redshirt senior Amy Thompson have combined to contribute to 12 of BU's 15 goals this season, be it as the goal-scorer or assisting on the play.

  • Holy Cross was predicted to finish 10th in the Patriot League Preseason Poll after going 1-15-1 in 2021.

SERIES HISTORY
  • Wednesday marks the 14th all-time varsity meeting between BU and Holy Cross in a series that began in BU's first season in 1995.
  • The Terriers are 11-2 in the rivalry, having won 11 of the last 12 meetings.
  • BU has shut out Holy Cross in 10 of the 13 contests, and sports a 27-5 scoring margin.
